This Stockholm Pharmacy Turned Its Window Displays Into Light Therapy

Apotek Hjartat's Latest Outdoor Innovation Targets Sunlight-Starved Swedes

Up in the chilly north of Europe, winter can seem really long and sunlight rare. Research shows half of the Swedish population suffer from Vitamin D deficiency during the winter months and many feel tired in February

With this in mind, pharmacy chain Apotek Hjartat decided to turn its store windows into light therapy. During February, outside one of Apotek Hjartat's pharmacies in central Stockholm, passers-by could boost their energy by simply standing in front of the windows, which use specially adapted fluorescent lamps to emulate a natural daylight. The installation is triggered simply by passing by the windows.

The campaign, by Wenderfalck, is the latest outdoor innovation to impress us from this brand; others include last year's Coughing Billboard and 2014's poster campaign in which a woman's hair reacted to a subway train pulling in. Both of those were by Akestam Holst.
