Conde Nast makes its debut in the casual gaming sector with "Fashion Hazard," a new game for iOS aimed at teen girls and young women. Players take the role of a novice model named Ellie Redburn, who moves to NYC from Kansas city in the hopes of building her career. Ellie needs to build her skills and make the most of her trip down the catwalk, avoiding obstacles, picking up bling while trying to beat the clock. For controls, the game leverages an iPhone's accelerometer and touch/swipe gesturing.
The game was created out of the company's Interactive Product Group (iPG), which is dedicated to experimenting with technology and creating new, unbranded digital products. The game features 3D graphics and animation was developed in Unity.
According to Conde Nast spokesperson Susan Portnoy, the game was inspired by the personal experience of iPG senior director of product and biz development Juliana Stock, whose 11-year-old daughter was having a tough time finding a challenging mobile game--but with a feminine bent. She found most of the games targeted to girls specifically had feminine themes, but lacked the agility element you'd find in popular games ilke "Temple Run" or "Subway Surfer."
