A Boy Grows Up and Rediscovers His Sense of Wonder in This Gorgeous Mercedes Spot

Ad From Germany Captures a Child's Sense of Perspective

Mercedes' latest spot from Germany is a sweeping, gorgeously-crafted film which charts a boy's life from babyhood to manhood. As a child, he stares up in awe and wonder at the world around him. The film cleverly captures a child's perspective on the world in which adults, balloons, even raindrops seem huge -- there's one scene in which he's on a seesaw with his mom on a beach, and she appears like a giant.

As he grow up, from cute red-headed boy to earnest teen to handsome, Damian Lewis-lookalike middle aged man (the casting is spot-on), we sense that he's losing this wonder, as he cleans his apartment, travels in planes and taxis while checking his watch and looks exhausted in the shower and while trying to go for a run. But lowering the roof on his Mercdes C Class cabrio convertible, he regains his perspective as a huge bird flies overhead. The tagline is "Unleash your senses."

The ad was directed by Radical Media's Sebastian Strasser (whose previous auto work includes a cinematic epic for Audi) for agency Antoni Berlin.
