Nike Gives Babies a Locker Room Pep Talk in Ad Starring Bobby Cannavale

Little Superstars Get a Motivational Speech

In Nike's latest spot, released ahead of the Olympics, "baby" versions of famous athletes including Serena Williams, LeBron James, Neymar Jr., Mo Farah and Zhou Qi, lie in cribs in a nursery, where they get a motivational speech from actor Bobby Cannavale.He tells them that life's basically "messed up" and they don't get a say in where they are born, what they are called, whether their whole family has to leave the country or anything else that happens to them as a baby. But they do get a say in their future.

As a fun take on the locker-room speech, it's a slightly different approach for Nike -- not a brand you normally associated with cuteness and "Ahhhs." But with its message that "champions aren't born, they're made," it's inspirational enough to get everyone in the mood for sport in the run-up to Rio.

The ad was directed by indie movie director Damien Chazelle ("Whiplash') for Wieden & Kennedy, Portland.
