Marketer Seizes Chance to Show Off its Gear VR Headset

Samsung showed off its Gear virtual reality headset to Australians in the town of Alice Springs, by inviting them to go "shark diving." Since Alice Springs lies thousands of miles from the ocean, this seemed like an unlikely proposition, but visitors to the Dive Shop the brand set up in the town soon found themselves donning the Gear VR headset, with Galaxy Note phone inside, to go on a virtual underwater adventure.

Judging from their reactions, it was great (if enough to put you off diving with real sharks for life). The campaign was by Leo Burnett Sydney, working with Taylor Steele of Rapid VR.
